The Loving Touch Connection was created to help connect visually impaired people of all ages to the world of art-- on glassware. Many of us "sighted" people have a mug or glass that has a special saying on it, whether it's our name, or a 'Have a Great Day!'... and I just thought it would be so awesome if visually impaired people could have the same type of glasses especially for them with raised dots in braille that they can read with their finger tips!
I was so excited with this idea, that I worked on several methods and I have created a technique of writing braille words (with raised dots) on glassware and of course, incorporate unique, handpainted designs to complement the words. I have met with several visually impaired people to test the raised braille dots and give me advice on the technique, readablity, and interest in this product and have had wonderful feedback from everyone (A very special thank you to Rita and the folks at The Center for Vision Loss, Allentown, PA center)! This is so exciting to me and I am honored to be able to bring the art world to visually impaired people in such a special and unique way. Any design in any of my categories (glassware, terra cotta planters, etc.) can be painted on the glass of your choice with a saying or name for the person you would like to give it to. Braille words are done using Grade 1 Braille. Spanish and French words will also be available :)
Currently, I only have a few designs to offer, as this is so brand new, so check back or e-mail me if you have an idea in mind.
